At SJJA, the safety and well-being of our staff, students, and visitors is our top priority. This Workplace Safety Plan outlines the procedures, guidelines, and responsibilities to ensure a safe environment across all SJJA locations. It is essential that all employees, coaches, and members understand and adhere to the safety protocols described in this plan.
Health and Safety Policy

Responsibilities:
Management: Ensure all staff are trained in safety procedures, regularly review safety policies, and maintain all equipment and facilities.
Employees and Coaches: Comply with safety procedures, report hazards, and use equipment properly.
Students and Visitors: Follow the instructions of SJJA staff and adhere to posted safety guidelines.
Hazard Identification and Risk Management
Objective:
To provide a safe and healthy environment for all SJJA employees, students, and visitors by identifying and managing potential risks.
Responsibilities:
Regular Inspections: Conduct weekly inspections of all training areas, equipment, and facilities to identify hazards.
Risk Assessments: Perform risk assessments for new activities or changes in the environment.
Reporting Hazards: Encourage staff and students to report hazards immediately to management. A hazard report form should be available at all locations.
Emergency Procedures
Objective:
To ensure a prompt and effective response to emergencies.
Types of Emergencies:
Fire: Evacuate the building using designated exits. Fire extinguishers are located at marked points throughout the facility.
Medical Emergencies: First aid kits are available at each location. Staff trained in first aid should be the first responders.
Evacuation Plan: Clearly marked evacuation routes and assembly points should be visible throughout the facility. Regular fire drills will be conducted to ensure everyone is familiar with the evacuation procedures.
